My answer to
bas_math_girl answer to my wip meme.
me:Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Ask about one and I'll tell you something about it, or post a snippet, or both.
bas_math_girl Erm... so many lovely titles to choose from *waves my finger at the list*
Can I ask about "the terrible date on christmas eve" please? :D
So... the terrible date on chstimas eve (I rarely use capital letters in title, especially when I know that those will not be the ultimate title of the story) is, as the ninety percent of my story, A mentalist fanfiction. It was supposed to be a seuqel to what wqas supposed to be a one shot, a story called "BURNING JEALOUSY", that I published around the end of october and the beginning of november. Then, I procrastinated a tiny bit, so I decided to set it around Chrstmas time. Then, I had to write my Chrstmas gift fics, so I put it aside, thinking that there would be time before Chrstmas eve. the result? Last time the document has been modified is 12/15/2012, 19.58, for a total of 5 pages and 2739 words.
The story was (is?) supposed to be about Jane and Lisbon's fist date, after yaesr of navigating the waters of companionship, fridnship, and professional partnership. It was the kind of date that you think would put and end to a story ebfore it could actually begin, because everything that could go wrong, it actually goes wrong, from having to break in your own home because you don't have the keys any longer, to spending Christmas eve in jail, to the resturant losing the reservation...
And as far as the piece of story goes...
He smiled at her while she rambled (blushing), and had simply to cut her off shortly, in the only suitable way.
He joined their lips, a small peck, quick, but so sensual that had her moaning in an instant.
"I can wait here until you finish getting ready. I’ll be a good boy" he promised, grinning, his hand massaging her dark hair. "or maybe you could came as you are. you are just perfect. I like when your hair curls naturally on the edge. God, you are so beautiful..." he said, his voice a mere whispered, and when her eyes went wide with surprise, he knew that he hadn’t just thought about saying the words, but that he had said them out loud.
he took his hand back like it was burning.
"Uhm....shall we go? that is....if you are ready, I mean."
She simply nodded, and followed him out, and only when she was already at his car she remembered that it was her place, and she was supposed to close the door. So, she returned back, and went to look for her keys in his purse when...She realized that she had left the purse in her bedroom.
She face-palmed, and, very, very annoyed, she went to Jane's car; she knocked on the window of the Citroen, and when he stared quizzically at her, she bit her lips: it took her actually two minutes to admit what she needed.
"I need you to break and enter again in my place, I left the keys in my room, and I can’t find the copy under the pot."
He looked at her guilty, just like a kid who had broken something and didn't want to be lectured. "Uhm, that could be my fault. you changed your lock, and it's a brand new model I'm not familiar with yet, so I took the key and left it on the kitchen counter. I wanted to ask you to put it somehow safer, but then..... you beauty overcome my thoughts."
She grunted, massaging the bridge of her nose. "Ok' find my a big, heavy stone. I'll break a window."
He reluctantly agreed to do as she asked, and, when she joined her at the chosen window, he tried to throw the stone himself, with the result that he barely lifted it from the ground. Lisbon did it as it was the easiest task in the universe. Really. She definitely was going to be the one with the pants in their relationship.
...and then, the siren of the alarm started as soon as she was entering inside her apartment, forcing her way through the broken glass. .
"A pressure sensible alarm? Seriously, Lisbon?" he asked her, following her inside as she run to turn the damn sound off and restore tranquility. she just half-turned, giving him a stern look, her fingers pressing the keys on autopilot. She wondered if he knew why she had state of the art security at her place. Did he know that the last year had been terrible, that every night she was scared that Red John would take and kill her, and draw a smiley in her blood? Maybe he did. Maybe he did not. Either way, she didn’t care. updating security she had felt a little better, and so be it.
She was already on her way to her bedroom, when she heard a click, unmistakable. The noise of a gun.
"police, freeze!" se slowly turned, and, at the end of the stairs she found Jane hands up in the hair, looking at a young gun, a uniform who looked like a rookie. And, being a rookie, she freed he was also a happy trigger. better not tempt her luck, she decided, surrendering as well.
"Officer, I think you may have done a mistake....
