Season 4 finale of the mentalist (mentions of Castle's finale as well)
4 years of "Its' almost summer, Jane is ready for vacation but then Red John strikes" kind of got me mad- annoyed, actually, like Castle's season finale did (two years in a row Beckett get injured, almost dead, while investigating her mother's murder), but where Castle disappointed me, the mentalist didn't. if not, it awoke in me with a passion the love with this show, letting me shrieking like a little girl.
I'm not saying it was perfect, but it had its balance, there was angst, there was darkness, but there was a little bit of light, that got me in the first place to focus on the show, and got me back into its good graces once again, after a fourth season I barely looked at. (there are two episodes, if not 3, I haven't seen yet because I couldn't care less about the mentalist).
At the end, I took my strenght and I looked at it live, getting up at 3 in the morning to catch the streaming on the net- I shouldn’t, but what the hell, in few weeks’ time I'll pay to see it on pay-per-view anyway... - and I was all, Heller, you monster, as a genius kind of monster, you feed us spoiler who are just half the story even if we are left to believing it's the whole story...
one of the best ep of the seasons, in my opinion. fun and angst, and with no real cliffhanger. I normally red john related ep at the end of the season (kind of: rj plan is to ruin Jane’s summer. funny, really) and it's been so great after a so... low season, that the shipper in me has returned with a passion (and I've already written over 1000 words of fan fiction).
I expected to hate Lorelai, but I didn’t. so, he had sex with her, so what? he was even partly drunk, so, what the hell. one night stands happen. and besides, we got to see a glimpse of Simon’s body. i would have appreciated a bit more, since I've seen pictures of him in the nude and, oh my god (and I'm in dark and tall person when it comes to immediate physical attraction)but it was good enough. guess we'll have to wait until he'll have sex related to a relationship- he has, indeed, jumped the bridge a bit with that. it's a little step in the direction of an healthy relationship in the future. just, out of curiosity: a waitress bail him out of jail for an enormous amount of money, and he didn't get a bit, I don't know, curious? he trusts her immediately? and here I thought even as adult one should be weary of strangers. it has to be a carnie thing, I guess.
Lisbon: loved her. the team hates Jane, but we all love Lisbon, as do they. when she was walking with her coat around Sacramento, all alone and sad, I just wanted to offer her my shoulder, and then go looking for Jane and hurting him...
smiled like a maniac in the Vegas warehouse. even there he has a couch! the only more hilarious thing has been when they've been inside the church, with a noun passing when Lisbon was shouting" god, I HATE YOU!" and Jane was already nowhere to be seen.
I loved the holding hands thing, and even if at first I thought back to season 1 -red john's friends - I still saw the differences and the development in their relationship: back then, it was awkward, quick and Jane didn't fully reply- if he did at all- while here is a natural gesture on her side, she holds him, his hand, like for dear life, and Jane holds her as strongly.
in few words, loved it. Mr.. Heller, I love you. (and Jane, but that goes without saying)…
I still have my doubts- I'll have to check a transcript of the dialogue of wait for the Italian version, but I'm pretty sure I heard Red John referring to his mole such as a "she" who told him as soon as she knew. If I'm not wrong, Heller seems to suggest that Darcy could be the mole, but then again, he let us beeliving things that weren't even there, so I'll wait to make any real specualtion. With him, and with Jane, one may never know were reality (and truth) stands.
I'm a bit doubtfol about the whole shooting Lisbon thing- I know, he didn't, but bear with me, how could people assume she was dead? Jane, in his con, killed her in her office, or one of the interrogation rooms, I'm not sure, I was too focused on him hugging her and telling her he really loved her, adn teh team said she was dead when he left. Meaning: he took the body with him, as in, in his arms. now, expalin me, how can one leave a federal bulding holding a dead body (or presumibly so) in his arms? We also have to assume that she didn't walt out on ehr legs, becaue toherwiese someone would have seen her. ebcause, you know, it's the middle of the day in a federal buioldings. with people who works. and agents. and guards. And, like I said on season 3, on one of teh first episodes (the one when he gifted with the gun): you can't walk into a federal building with a gun in your pocket, it's not a little suspencion of disbelief (like neil caffrey still being a consultant, Jane still being a consultant, Wess and trevis still working together after 5 years of arguing and almost killing each other on the job), it's almost impossible.
small note: bad things happen to the ones in charge of... well, to Lisbon's direct superiors. Minelli? afer 1 seasons and an half, he quit and become a drunk. Hightower? One season and an half, she is framed for murder, goes on teh run and when she is cleared, we don't know what happened of her. LaRoche? Few episodes, he left, moved away. even if I wonder if he didn't like his old job more (he just managed to get blackmailed and manipulated by jane on the job anyway), and now, poor Luther... it's not that I didn't like him, I didn't care, that's all (even if now I'm wondering why he took him to begin with. another mole, sacrificable like Bosco's secretary was?) but I'm still kind of sad. I guess it's an hazard occupation, work with Jane, and you die because of Red John (even if I wonder if he was already dead in the car or was darcy to kill him when she shot at the limo...)
Not bad, not bad at all. and guess what, Mr. Heller? I'm in love with teh Mentalist once again. I guess I'll wait for the next season with a triumpath giggle of expectations...
