I love GIMP as well. It's no photoshop, but it's addicting. I love going through and making covers for my old stories when I'm avoiding doing real work.

Let's say that, for someone who doesn't know a thing about editing like me, and doesn't need to much, GIMP is the ideal. And, well, it's crazy, but I've been doing, like, three covers this morning (all for the same story) and I was kind of fond of the end result :)
