17 - Close your eyes and get any book from your shelf

Stephanie Meyer’s “The Host”, my favorite book of hers. And for today, I’ll just share this. Sorry, but I’m quite in an hurry….

18 - Book with the most beautiful cover

“Remember me?” By Sophie Kinsella, the Italian Version, though; it was just plain lovely, simple but yet marvelous, white with two black silhouettes (him and her), and, between them, golden stylized sunflowers. I don’t know why, but I find it really marvelous. Special Mention to the Italian version of the Lord of the rings, all 3 volumes, where there is a drawings of few places portrayed in the books.

Day 19 - Book that you never wanted to read

There is so many of them I don’t even know where to start, and mostly, which one I should chose… I guess… Alexandros, from Valerio Massimo Manfredi; it was a novelization of Alexander the great’s life, and I was supposed to read it for school, and despite doing it, I hated every single page of the book… despite being a great fan of the later works from the author, but that book was just… it was too commercial, desperately trying to follow, somehow, into the footsteps of Christian Jacq’s “Ramses”. I didn’t want to read it, but had to. And I… well, I didn’t like it, at all.

Day 20 - Book that you read at school

I think that for this, I’ll go, instead, with a book I actually loved: “Elena, Elena, Amore mio!” and “Nessuno”, both from author Luciano De Crescenzo. The books are novelizations from Ancient Greece “Iliad” and “Odyssey” from an external point of view, and while the first one was compulsory, I got my teacher to give me to read also the following one. Why? Easy: Professor Ricca (Adolfo, while his brother was called Benito. I think we know where their parents stood) had given us the book as part of the monthly assignment; unfortunately (or maybe not) I liked “Elena” so much that I read it in a couple of days, and when I told him, and told him I had bought the following book as well, he agreed to let me work on that as well.

Yes, I’ve always loved reading…

Day 21 - Most stupid book you read at school

Oh, uhm, well, I don’t know… wait, I got it! Does a ply count, if I just read it for a class? At the time, I think it was Harold Pinter’s Birthday party, but I guess it is because it is theatre of the absurd, and because at the time I wasn’t so fluent in English. Maybe, looking at it right now… who knows.

Day 22 - Book on your shelf with the most pages

An edition of The Bible with over 2000 pages, a gift from my mother for when I got my Confirmation.

Day 23 - Book on your shelf with the least pages

It’s the short novel “Inverni Lontani” from Mario Rigoni Stern, about his youth in Itaky during the Second World War, only 44 pages.

Day 27 - A book where the main character is your idol
Day 28 - Thank God this book was made into a movie
